Using TestGen Questions in WebCT Quizzes

Exporting from TestGen

1. Open TestGen and choose the proper textbook from the left hand menu.
2. From the right hand menu choose Webtest.
3. Next choose WebCT 3 or 4 then OK.
4. Drag the Multiple Choice question folder for the chapter you want from the left into the right window. This will add those questions to the test bank.
5. Now click on the right window to select it.
6. From the File menu choose Export to WebCT 4.0 then click OK.
7. From the next window, type in a name for the folder (can be anything you will recognize later).
8. More importantly, type in a name for the category. This will match up to the question database category. Call it something like "chapter1_MC" for multiple choice. This will just help you locate the proper questions later within WebCT.
9. Now name the .zip file and click OK.
10. Close the test. When asked to save click on No.
11. Repeat this process for any of the other questions you want to use.
12. When done exporting all the questions, quit the TestGen program.
13. Go to the folder where you saved the .zip files.
14. Double-click on the .zip file to open it. It will now produce a folder.
15. Double-click on the folder and drag the .txt file to the desktop. This will make it easier to find when uploading it to WebCT.
16. You can now delete the .zip file and the empty folder.
17. Repeat for all questions you want to upload.

Uploading the Questions to WebCT 

1. Log into WebCT.
2. Click on the quiz icon.
3. From the top, click on the Question Database.
4. From the action menu click on Import Questions from File.
5. Click Browse.
6. Choose one of the .txt files from the desktop then click OK
7. Click Upload.
8. Now click Add Selected, then Import.
9. You will now see all the questions in the .txt file and the correct answers. After you review them, croll to the bottom and click Continue.
10. Repeat for all questions you wish to add.
11. The TestGen questions are now added to your WebCT question database.
